Ethiopian and Egyptian officials conferred at a virtually held meeting on December 17th as part of the Ethiopian-Egyptian Business Council (EEBC). The officials discussed strategies to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The meeting was organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Cairo. Ethiopian Ambassador to Egypt Markos Tekle, stressed the need of increased relations and transparency between the two countries for better trust and confidence.
Similarly, EEBC Managing Director Ibrahim Qamar emphasized the role that the council has had in helping the development of the strenuous relations between the two nations. Members of the Egyptian business community echoed similar sentiments along with the potential benefits of investing in Ethiopia.
Aschalew Tadesse, Director of Foreign Direct Investment promotion at the Ethiopian Investment Commission also briefed attendees on new Ethiopian investment laws and trade opportunities that can be exploited.
Currently, there are more than 70 licensed Egyptian investors in Ethiopia besides a strong trade relation that exists between the two countries, according to the embassy.
