Two Chinese companies Luckin Coffee and Louis Dreyfus Company have finalized a Strategic Cooperation Framework agreement with the Ethiopian government through the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing for the purchase of coffee beans from the East African producer.

The signing ceremony took place on January 6th with the Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Teshome Toga, in attendance. During his remarks the Ambassador noted the agreement as part of the jubilee celebrations of ties between the two countries and affirmed that 2021 is going to see this relationship strengthened even further.

Ambassador Teshome Toga also encouraged the companies to experiment with Ethiopian coffee varieties in their purchases, construct processing factories, and add to equitable practices for Ethiopian farmers.

Dr. Jinyi Guo, Chairman and CEO of Luckin Coffee and Jerrity Chen, Regional CEO of Louis Dreyfus Company for North Asia, gave their assurances that their companies will continue to work closely with Ethiopia to continue providing quality products to their diverse customer bases.
