The City of Addis Ababa’s Roads Authority and the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation have announced the finalization of an agreement for the construction of roads in the capital. The agreement is for 4.5 billion ETB that is going to go towards different road construction projects.
According to the Director General of the City Roads Authority, Moges Tibebu, the agreement is for the construction of both concrete and asphalt roads in different parts of the city. He also confirmed that the primary focus is going to be on areas that are starting to urbanize.
The organizations plan on constructing 15- to 50-meter-wide and 118km long roads in the Yeka Tafo, Dengara, Koye Feche, and Chefe areas. Officials expect these projects to create approximately 2000 jobs and be completed within a 9-to-19-month time frame.
Speaking after the signing event, Moges Tibebu said that the main focus of the projects will be the construction of roads in condominium areas in order to satisfy infrastructure needs and curb traffic flow issues.
