One of the top ride-hailing services in Ethiopia, Ride, is getting ready to introduce a new food delivery service to its customer base.

The company has disclosed that it has worked with more than 1,000 eateries in Addis Ababa and is getting ready to deploy 4,000 drivers initially for this new endeavor, which accounts for about 10% of its fleet.

Drivers for the meal delivery service will only pick up food within a 2 km radius of their location. And it is scheduled to launch next week. Moreover, It will not charge drivers commissions.

However, the service has a minimum price for consumers, restricted at 200 birrs for short distances, according to RIDE Driver Updates. The public has not yet been made aware of the rates over this minimum rate.
